When Therapists Seek Consultation

Therapists often reach out for consultation when they are working with complex relational trauma and want additional support or perspective.
Consultation may be helpful when:
• A client has recently discovered a partner’s sexual acting out, infidelity, or secret behaviors. This discovery is causing them significant emotional destabilization.
• A client is showing signs of betrayal trauma, including hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, emotional flooding, or loss of relational safety.
• You want guidance navigating the early discovery and stabilization phase.
• You are working with a client impacted by compulsive sexual behavior or sex addiction dynamics.
• A case involves complex attachment injury within a long-term relationship.
• You would like support integrating trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR, parts work, or somatic regulation.
• You want a structured framework for guiding clients through long-term healing and integration.
Consultation provides a steady place to reflect on the clinical work. It allows you to consider additional perspectives. It strengthens your confidence when supporting clients through difficult relational terrain.

Refer a Client
I welcome referrals from therapists who are supporting clients impacted by betrayal trauma, infidelity, compulsive sexual behaviors, or attachment injuries.
Many clinicians refer clients when a case would benefit from specialized trauma-treatment. They also make referrals when the intensity of betrayal trauma exceeds the scope of their current practice.
Referrals may be appropriate when a client is experiencing:
• Discovery of a partner’s sexual acting out or infidelity
• Symptoms of betrayal trauma, including hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, or emotional destabilization
• Significant attachment injury within a long-term relationship
• Difficulty restoring a sense of safety, clarity, and emotional stability after relational disruption
• The need for specialized work with partner trauma related to compulsive sexual behavior
I offer the following services depending on the needs of the client:
• Individual therapy for Washington State residents (telehealth)
• Private trauma intensives in Leavenworth, Washington
• Living Well coaching for out-of-state individuals seeking structured support and psychoeducation
My work is depth-oriented and grounded in trauma-informed care. Clients receive support to stabilize their nervous system. They clarify their internal experience. They develop the capacity for thoughtful and grounded decision-making about their lives and relationships.
